Vaxell Engines’ Secret : A Very Smart Camshaft…

For 30 years, the Polish company Świątek has been manufacturing camshafts. It provides camshafts to dealer networks of all major car brands, from the most popular, such as FIAT, Peugeot, Renault or Skoda, as the sportiest ones, such as BMW, Audi, or Porsche, as well. In total, there are camshafts for 38 brands and for more than 350 standard models. And there which should be added the sport, trucks and motorcycles models…

With this experience in the automotive sector, the company has designed specific camshafts for aeronautical engines based on VW blocks, which are very popular among the experimental aircrafts builders.

Vaxell camshafts move the maximum power to a range of 2,800 to 3,000 revolutions per minut, and increase the torque throughout the range of speeds from 2,000 rpm.

If different Vaxell models deliver their maximum power at 400 rpm, or 500 rpm less, than other VW-based engines, it’s precisely thanks to these camshafts. The torque, much more important, than by competitors, is also obtained by this way.

There are currently two models:

• Vaxell 50201 – for engines with a displacement between 1,500 and 1,915 cm³, with a 69 mm piston stroke,
• Vaxell 50211 – for engines with a displacement between 1,800 and 2,300 cm³, with a 82 mm piston stroke.
